1. Who we are
Flag Football United, Inc. ("FFU," "we," "us," or "our") is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation operating adult flag football leagues and tournaments in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information from players, free agents, captains, and visitors to our website at flagunited.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what you give us through our forms and email:
- Team registration — the team captain's name, mobile phone number, and email address; the team name; the league or tournament; any notes you add; your agreement to our Terms; and whether you opted in to SMS (yes/no)
- Free-agent signup — your name, email address, phone number (optional), preferred city and format, experience level, positions, and any notes you add
- Contact form and email — your name, email address, topic, and the message you send us
- Payments — team fees are paid through Zeffy. Zeffy processes your payment; FFU never sees or stores your card number. We receive a payment receipt (such as payer name, email, and amount)
- SMS program — if a captain opts in, their mobile number, their consent record, and records of the messages we send and replies such as STOP or HELP (see Section 5)
For the public schedule, we publish team names, game times, locations, and scores — not captains' names or contact details. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers on this website. Our hosting provider processes basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site.
3. How we use your information
- To register and manage your team or free-agent signup
- To communicate league information, schedules, and updates
- To confirm payments and handle any refunds
- To match free agents with teams looking for players
- To send team captains game-day texts (only if the captain opts in)
- To answer your questions and improve our website and operations
- To comply with legal obligations
4. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only when necessary:
- With team captains — when you sign up as a free agent, we share your contact info with captains who are looking for players, so they can reach out to you about joining their team
- With the service providers that run our website and leagues, who process it on our behalf:
- Formspree — delivers our website forms (registration, free agents, contact) to our inbox
- Zeffy — processes team-fee payments
- Google — Google Sheets and Apps Script store our league and free-agent records; Google Fonts and Google Maps embeds load on our pages; Google Sign-In is used by our admins
- Cloudflare — hosts this website
- Twilio — delivers our SMS messages
- With municipal partners when required for facility access, insurance, or compliance purposes
- When required by law — subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process
5. SMS / text messaging program
Flag Football United team-captain texts is an optional program for team captains. The only way to join is the optional SMS checkbox on our team registration form (unchecked by default). Opting in is not required to register a team or to play.
What we send
Operational messages about your team's league or tournament: game times and locations, bye weeks, rainouts and cancellations, schedule changes, and league updates. We do not send marketing, promotional, sales, or third-party messages.
What information we collect for SMS
- The captain's mobile phone number
- The consent record — whether the SMS box was checked (recorded as "SMS consent: yes" or "no" on the registration) and when the form was submitted
- Records of messages we send and replies we receive (such as STOP or HELP)
Will my phone number or SMS data ever be shared?
No. Your mobile number, SMS consent, and text-message content are never sold, rented, traded, or shared with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes.
Besides FFU, the only company that processes your number for SMS is our messaging provider, Twilio, which delivers the messages on our behalf and may not use your number for its own purposes.
Frequency, costs, and how to stop
- Message frequency varies — roughly 1–4 messages per week during the season.
- Message and data rates may apply — these are set by your mobile carrier's plan, not by FFU.
- Reply STOP at any time to opt out. You'll get one confirmation message and no further texts from us.
- Reply HELP for help, or email lance@flagunited.com.
Carriers and liability
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS delivery is provided "as available" — outages and delays can occur outside our control.
6. Cookies & browser storage
This website does not set cookies of its own and does not use analytics or cross-site advertising trackers. To keep pages fast, your browser stores a short-lived copy of the public schedule (in sessionStorage / localStorage) and a few display preferences; this stays on your device and expires or can be cleared at any time. Third-party services embedded in or linked from our pages — Google Maps and Google Fonts, Zeffy, and Formspree — may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as you remain an active participant or until you ask us to delete it. Some records — financial transactions, legal documents, insurance records — may be retained longer to comply with legal obligations. SMS opt-in records are retained as long as required by federal and state law to demonstrate compliance.
8. Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of the personal information we have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Unsubscribe from email or SMS communications at any time (reply STOP to any text)
To make a request, contact us.
9. Children's privacy
Our leagues are for adults 18 and older, and this website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information. However, no online system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials and devices secure.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on this site.
